Cookery Courses

Make Thyme to Cook

At Mountain Thyme we believe great food doesn’t have to be complicated; and we know that with a little guidance and a sprinkling of inspiration we can get anyone cooking delicious food that everyone wants to eat. Our aim is to help you create food you can be proud of, without any of the stress.

With space for up to 12 participants at a time, our beautiful bespoke kitchen is kitted out with state-of-the-art induction hobs, plenty of ovens and even height-adjustable work stations. We have a beautiful dining room and terrace where you can enjoy your creations after your course, and we’ll even do your washing up for you in our separate utility room - unless you are a child, in which case you need to learn this useful skill!

Click through to either Adult or Kids' courses to see the range of cookery experiences we offer. We can allow for most food allergies or specific dietary requirements in our courses; simply let us know in advance so that we can guarantee we can accommodate them on the day.

We can also provide gift vouchers for you to purchase as a great present for birthdays, Christmas or special occasions. These are valid for 1 year from the date of purchase and the course must be booked in advance.

Adults' courses

If you're looking for a new or different activity here in Verbier, we can offer you a fun and creative option, and we're right in the centre of the village. We are open all year round and run many different cookery experiences, so you can choose how much time you would like to spend with us. We'd be delighted to see you for as many or as few courses as suits you.

Please browse our different cooking experiences by clicking here and then selecting a category to explore. You can then read more about each course by clicking on the name. Once you have an idea of what you might like, just submit an enquiry to let us know what kind of cookery experience you are looking for, your availability and contact details. You can also select whether you'd like the course to be limited to you or your group (private) or whether you would be happy if others joined you (open). We'll then be in touch to help arrange your course!

Kids' workshops, with Verbier Tourist Office

We run classes in conjunction with the Verbier Tourist Office every Saturday until the 9th October, 16h00-17h00, for children aged 7-11. They spend a fun-packed hour learning new skills and making a delicious dish to eat and to recreate later with the family. Kids will cook in our specially adapted kitchen, and even take the recipe away with them! Book via the Verbier Tourist Office or by clicking here (Please note: bookings close at 4pm the day before; these classes take place in both French and English).

We are also offering a 2-day workshop during the afternoons for children during the October half term.  The classes will be from 14h00-17h00 on Friday 29 October and Saturday 30 October.  The 3 hour classes will be 99chf per child for one session or 180chf for both sessions.  Please email us on info@cookinthealps.com to book your child's places.

Private kids' classes & parties

We can organise private classes for children too. These sessions can be the perfect group event for a birthday celebration, a series of classes to give them fundamental skills or just a really fun, creative activity! Classes can be arranged to suit your requirements perfectly, and can last from one hour to 3 hours, depending on your needs and the ages and numbers of children. Click here for more information, some ideas for dishes they can create and guide prices.

Courses for young adults & school leavers

These are comprehensive courses, including everything you might need to work a winter season in a chalet, including cookery, basic food hygiene, housekeeping and wine tasting, among other skills! This is the perfect course for those living away from home for the first time, building confidence and skills, all in the vibrant resort of Verbier. The course includes five days tuition in a week, with two meals a day provided during this time, accommodation on a shared basis (if required) and optional activities in their free time. We are currently planning when the next course will run, and so we'll post further information on dates and prices then. In the meantime, sign up to our newsletter (see the box below) to keep informed, or email us at info@cookinthealps.com to register your interest.
