Kids' Courses

"My 9 year old son has been learning to cook under the guidance of Mountain Thyme for the past 4 months. He comes home after every class so excited, clutching his recipe and talking non stop about what he cooked. He has started eating foods he used to hate and best of all he now cooks for the family on Friday night!! I cannot thank Cat enough for sharing her love of cooking with him, and consequently us!"

Workshops with Verbier Tourist Office

Saturdays, 16.00-17.00 (ages 7-11 years)
30 chf, or FREE with VIP Pass

These classes run every weekend until October 9th, and take place in both French and English. The children spend a fun-packed hour learning new skills and making a delicious dish to eat and to recreate later with the family! Kids will cook in our specially adapted kitchen, and can even take the recipe away with them. Book via the Verbier Tourist Office or by clicking here. Please note: bookings close 24 hours in advance of these courses.
For the winter season, we will be running these classes on Sundays.

Private classes for kids

At Mountain Thyme we can organise private classes for children too. These sessions can be the perfect group event for a birthday celebration, a series of classes to give them fundamental skills or just a really fun, creative activity!

We have over ten years' experience cooking with young children and we promise to make the sessions engaging, lively and educational. We also strongly believe that cookery lessons broaden their food horizons so they will be more willing to try new foods. We have age-appropriate equipment ready for them to use, a height-adjustable workstation and a raft of delicious recipes at our fingertips. Classes can be arranged to suit your requirements perfectly, and can last from one hour to three hours, depending on your needs and the ages and numbers of children. We tend to focus on savoury dishes principally for health reasons, but sweet treats are not overlooked!

Suggestions for children's classes include:

Aged 4-8

Cheesy biscuits

Houmous wraps

Oaty salmon fishcakes

Omelette popovers & yoghurt dip

Pea & ham quiches

Scone-based pizzas

Quesadillas with guacamole

Fruit crumble

Indian Feast!

Amazing evening spent at the Round the World Series learning to cook an Indian feast! It was great team bonding and so much fun learning an lots of different recipes and cooking tips along the way. Everyone enjoyed eating the fruits of their labour in the beautiful and cosy dining room afterwards. Already looking for an excuse to come back... would highly recommend!
